To strengthen the capacity of UPPID at national and district levels to effectively deliver on its mandate
To lobby and advocate for inclusion of PWIDs and their families in all development programmes based on CRPD.
To promote self advocacy of PWIDs
To act as an umbrella advisory and advocacy body for members and organisations that may affiliate to it that carry out similar or related activities.
To enhance socio-economic empowerment programmes of PWIDs and their families.
To provide a forum for exchange of information , experiences and advice for parents, member organisations and affiliates with regard to care and training of persons with intellectual disabilities.
